Crater Lake National Park will celebrate the National Park Service Centennial on August 25, 2016 by hosting a "pop up" museum.  A "pop up" museum is a temporary exhibit created by anyone who chooses to participate.  For this event, Crater Lake Staff invite you to bring your Crater Lake memorabilia to share. Participants will write a label for their object and leave it on display for others to see for a few hours.  The objects can be old, new, unique or just curious. The goal is to bring people together to share their National Park Service memories through stories, art and objects.

The museum will be located at the Rim Village Community House on Thursday, August 25
th from 1:00 –4:00 PM.  Participants are invited to bring not only Crater Lake memorabilia, but treasures from any other national park as well.  Items and information will be photographed if acceptable to the object owners to record the exhibit, and participants will take their items home with them at the conclusion of the event.  The Southern Oregon Historical Society will also be bringing some special Crater Lake artifacts for everyone to see.  Refreshments will be provided.

In addition to the museum, there will be Centennial Junior Ranger programs in Rim Village throughout the afternoon with the opportunity to get a special Centennial Junior Ranger booklet and commemorative stickers.  In the evening, join park rangers for a Centennial evening campfire program at the Mazama Amphitheatre at 8:00 PM.

Please dust off your favorite National Park Service memorabilia and share it and its story to celebrate Crater Lake and 100 years of the National Park Service with us!
