Parks to Close for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Both Cowpens National Battlefield and Ninety Six National Historic Site will be closed December 24 and 25, 2007. The parks are usually closed on Christmas Day, but on December 7, President Bush issued an Executive OrderdeclaringMonday, December 24, 2007, a Federal Holiday as well. Trails at both parks will remain open, but theVisitorCentersand other buildings will be closed.

Both Parks will reopen Wednesday, December 26. Take a break from shopping and presents and relax at the parks. Spend an hour or spend a day walking the trails, visiting the museums, or browsing the bookstores. Whether you are visiting for the first time or seeing the parks for the first time through your family’s eyes, Ninety Six National Historic Site and Cowpens National Battlefield welcome you to spend the Holidays in the National Parks.

Both parks are part of the National Park Service. Cowpens National Battlefield is open daily from9:00amto5:00pm. The auto loop road and picnic area close at4:30 p.m.The Trailhead parking lot is open6:00 am to 9:00 pmfor additional pedestrian and bicycle access to the battlefield before, during, and after business hours. Ninety Six National Historic Site is open daily8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and is located two miles South of Ninety Six on SC Highway 248. Visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/nisi for upcoming events and pictures of past events.
