In order to ensure visitor safety, the South Cedar Creek Canoe Launch and parking area at Congaree National Park in Hopkins, South Carolina, will be closed June 10-14. National Park Service crews from Kings Mountain National Military Park will assist Congaree staff in tree removal work during the closure.Trees will be removed in preparation for the upcoming parking lot improvement project. Visitors wishing to access Cedar Creek for a paddle during the closures may use the Bannister Bridge Canoe Access, located on Old Bluff Road.

Contractors will undertake a project to improve the existing South Cedar Creek Canoe Launch area by expanding the parking lot. The project will greatly improve the safety, appearance, and usability of the site. The public should expect sporadic construction related closures at the South Cedar Creek Canoe Launch to take place in the upcoming months. Visitors are encouraged to call the Visitor Center, 803 776-4396, for Cedar Creek access information prior to your visit.
