ONE-WAY VEHICLE TRAFFIC
DURING RIM ROCK MARATHON FOOT RACE
IN COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT

November 13, 8:00 am to 1:00pm

On Saturday, November 13, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., portions of Rim Rock Drive in Colorado National Monument will be temporarily closed to facilitate the annual Rim Rock Marathon.

One-way vehicle traffic including bicycles will only be permitted from the west entrance (Fruita) to the east entrance (Grand Junction). East bound vehicle and bicycle traffic heading to Glade Park will need to use Little Park Road during the early part of the marathon.

The race will start near the east entrance of Colorado National Monument at the intersection of South Camp Road and Monument Road. Motorists and bicyclists will not be able to enter Colorado National Monument at the east entrance during the first part of the race. Motorists and bicyclists should use Little Park Road to avoid delays. Motorists and bicyclists who are leaving the Monument at the east entrance near 8:00 a.m. may experience a delay of approximately 45 minutes.

As the race progresses, Rim Rock Drive will reopen to two-way traffic in stages, with westbound access to Glade Park opening first. Rim Rock Drive from the east entrance to the Glade Park turnoff (DS Road) will be open for two-way traffic at approximately 9:30 a.m. Westbound traffic from Grand Junction to Glade Park should plan to use Little Park Road between the hours of 7:30 - 9:30 a.m.

During the one-way restriction, the speed limit for the entire road will be 25 miles per hour, and no passing will be permitted. Motor vehicles and bicycles will be limited to eastbound travel only.

Rim Rock Drive is scheduled to reopen to normal two way traffic at 1:00 p.m.

Runners will be shuttled from the Finish Line area (James M. Robb State Park) to the start location.

The Rim Rock Marathon is a special event that is authorized under a National Park Service special use permit. The race, formerly known as the Rim Rock Run, has taken place annually on the second Saturday of November since 1993.

Ascent Productions is the business coordinating and executing the race. Anyone needing additional information on the race should contact Ascent Productions at 970-274-1232.
