Holiday Open House December 11 and 12 Colorado National Monument will host a holiday open house at the Visitor Center this Saturday and Sunday (December 11 & 12) from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Throughout the weekend, visitors will receive a 20% discount off all regularly-priced merchandise in the store. Colorado National Monument is also pleased to announce that the 2011 Annual Park Pass has just arrived and will be available for sale to all visitors for just $20.00 at both entrance stations and in the park visitor center. This year’s Colorado National Monument Annual Pass features a stunning Christopher Tomlinson photograph of Independence Monument and Monument Canyon with cloud formations in the background. Tomlinson is the Head Photographer at the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel and donated the photo for the annual pass. Colorado National Monument is honored to have Tomlinson’s photo grace the cover of the annual pass throughout the Centennial year. These passes are sure to be a collector’s item and will make great Christmas presents and stocking stuffers. The open house will also feature the debut of the Colorado National Monument’s hand-painted Centennial Holiday Ornament. Shoppers can browse the store and visit the exhibit area, where a temporary Mesa County Valley School District 51 elementary, middle, and high school student art exhibit is on display. Special screenings of the 1-hour Rocky Mountain PBS original documentary film "The Colorado National Monument: Celebrating 100 Years of John Otto's Dream" will be featured at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. For more information about the event, visit the park website at www.nps.gov/colm/ or call 970/858-3617, ext. 360. |
