Plan a Field Trip Choose a date and time, but please keep in mind that the date and time you specified may already be reserved, so please have a second option. Groups 10 or more will require a reservation and groups 30 or more will have to be split into two groups and may require another reservation. Please arrive on time. Your guided tour will be 45- minutes to 1 hour. No food or beverages allowed in the house and there is only one public bathroom on site. We encourage groups to arrive earlier to use the large public bathroom at Glen Echo Park that is ajacent from the Clara Barton National Historic Site. Clara Barton Needs You! (Parks-as-Classrooms) PAC Program Designed for Grades 1-3, this free program focuses on the important role volunteers played in early operations of the American Red Cross. Students will learn how volunteers helped victims of natural disasters and war and what it would have been like to work with Clara Barton and live in her Glen Echo home. This program may be scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-12 noon during the school year. A maximum of 33 participants (one adult chaperon per ten children) may attend each program. Consider combining a tour at Clara Barton National Historic Site with a picnic lunch and an afternoon tour at Glen Echo Park. "Parks as Classrooms" PAC Program for grades K - 2nd Parks as Classrooms (PAC) was launched in 1992 to introduce park resources to students and teachers nationwide. Clara Barton National Historic Site PAC Program is a field trip that is designed to provide students in grades K-2nd the opportunity to participate in a free, hands-on, curriculum-based, education program. Students will spend 2 hours on site. Pre-visit and Post-visit materials are recommended. . Students will develop an appreciation for the abilities and values that Clara Barton possessed to both start and manage the American Red Cross. . Students will be able to compare some of the characteristics that they share with Clara Barton. . Students will develop a better understanding of how different shelters are appropriate for different situations and how the design of these shelters are influenced by time and culture. .
