A park for all the people requires thoughtful, professional management. Through Public Law 100-696, Congress directed the National Park Service to preserve and protect, through cooperative efforts, the scenic qualities and attributes of the California Trail landscape, historic rural setting, and granite features, while interpreting its values and managing recreation. Many of the links from this management page will provide a first-hand look at the documents that guide park managers toward achieving this purpose. Read the enabling legislation that created the Reserve, or become familiar with the climbing management plan and recent public involvement.
