Join us for our annual Fishing Fiesta at Fletchers Cove!


Fishing is one of the most popular activities along the canal. Whether you're an experinced angler or a first-timer, you can come out and learn about how the National Park Service promote sustainable fishing practices, the diverse populations of fish that live in the Potomac River and canal, and try your luck at catching some fish!

Children under the age of 16 do not require a license to fish at Fletchers Cove.

Fishing at Fletchers Cove

Participants who are 16 - 65 years of age who wish to fish must have a Washington, DC fishing license. Licenses can be obtained by visiting Washington, DC Department of Energy and Environment's website, and are also available for purchase the day of the event at Fletchers Cove.

At Fletchers Cove the park follows Washington, DC Department of Energy & Enviroment fishing regulations and requirements, including laws regarding catching and releasing certain fish species.

Parking

Parking is free and available on a first come, first served basis. Parking is available at the Abner Cloud House and in the lower parking lot. Parking is ADA accessible. When planning your visit, please consider that Canal Road access is subject to weekday morning and evening one way rush hour restrictions.
