Contact: Greg Kniesler, 301-491-1165 Potomac, Md. Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park will be closing the Canal Towpath from towpath mile marker 10.5 (Carderock) to mile marker 11.5 (Marsden Tract) in Montgomery County, Maryland on January 21 and January 22. The closure is needed for safety reasons due to emergency repair work in the area. Local pedestrians and cyclists are advised to avoid the towpath in this area for the duration of the work. Through hikers and cyclists are advised to utilize the Capital Crescent Trail connecting to the MacArthur Boulevard Bikeway as a detour around the closed towpath section. |
