Georgetown Heritage and the National Park Service (NPS) invite you to a public workshop to give feedback on updated concepts for the Georgetown Canal Plan. The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Canal Overlook room at Georgetown Park.

In 2017, the NPS and Georgetown Heritage, with support from the D.C. Office of Planning and the Georgetown Business Improvement District(BID), initiated an Environmental Assessment (EA) and public planning effort to develop a comprehensive plan to revitalize and reactivate the one-mile section of the C&O Canal in Georgetown.

Since the last public meeting, Georgetown Heritage and the NPS developed an interpretation and education plan for the Georgetown section of the C&O Canal, which, in addition to prior public comments, has greatly informed revised concepts.

Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to review design boards, share feedback and ask questions. People will also have the opportunity to provide comments after the meeting through the NPS public planning and comment website or by mail.

Meeting Location: The Canal Overlook room is located on the far west side of Georgetown Park (3276 M St NW), next to Dean & DeLuca. If you require special accommodations during the meeting, please contact Maggie Downing by March 28th at mdowning@georgetownheritage.org.

How to Comment: Public comments will be accepted April 4 through May 11 via the NPS’s Planning, Environmental and Public Comments (PEPC) website at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/GeorgetownCanalPlan or by mail to:

Superintendent
C&O Canal National Historical Park Headquarters Office
