CUMBERLAND, Md. – The National Park Service (NPS) in coordination with the City of Cumberland invites public comment through October 31 on a proposed combined sewer overflow project that would affect a portion of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.

The City of Cumberland is proposing to construct a 78-inch wide pipeline that will transport sewage and stormwater 2.65 miles from Canal Place to the Water Reclamation Facility at Riverside Park, where it will connect with existing infrastructure. Approximately 6,600 linear feet of the proposed pipeline will fall within NPS land.
