WASHINGTON - The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park (C&O Canal) and its partner, Georgetown Heritage, invite the public to “Meet the Mules” this Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fishmarket Square, the corner of Grace Street and Potomac Street NW.

During the operating years of the canal, mules pulled boats along the C&O Canal towpath through Georgetown on their way to and from Cumberland, Md. Program attendees will have the opportunity to meet Dolly and Eva, modern day canal mules that work at Great Falls and participate in family-friendly activities along the towpath. Come meet the mules and learn about their life’s work along this once vibrant 19th century canal.
