Potomac, MD - On Sunday, March 19, join us at the Great Falls Tavern located in the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park (C&O Canal) to discover the story and song of the Irish. Canal Historian Dr. Karen Gray will explore the history of Irish immigrants and the C&O Canal story. Historic illustrations and narratives of 19th century of these immigrant laborers tell the tale of sweat and toil that made the dream of the canal a reality. Learn about the work, culture, struggle, and labor unrest surrounding their story. Did they face bias and injustice from the C&O Canal Company, contractors and bosses, and the local communities? Come and find out!

Dr. Gray’s presentation will be followed by Irish music from 2:00-4:00 pm. Abigail and Cathy Palmer will perform traditional Irish tunes on the harp and fiddle.
This event is free to all park visitors. There is an entrance fee to the park of $10.00 per single vehicle.

The Great Falls area of the C&O Canal National Historical Park is located at the intersection of Falls Road and MacArthur Boulevard in Potomac, Maryland. For more information about the concert and the park, call 301-767-3714.
