Entrance Passes

There is no entrance fee at Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Tickets are not required to visit the park.
 

America the Beautiful: National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass

The America the Beautiful: National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass program provides a number of discount options for the public to use at federal recreation sites where entrance or standard amenity fees are charged.

Visitors at Chickasaw National Recreation Area who have Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, and Access Passes are eligible for a 50% discount on camping fees and boat launch permits.

Receipts, photos, or copies of any pass are NOT valid for use.


 

Where to get Interagency Passes at Chickasaw National Recreation Area

Interagency Passes can be obtained at the Travertine Nature Center during business hours.

It is recommended to call the Travertine Nature Center at 580-622-7234 to check staff availability before arriving.

Annual Pass

  • Anyone 16 years or older may purchase the Annual Pass for $80.
  • Valid for 12 consecutive months.
  • Expires one year after the last day of the purchase month. For example, if an Annual Pass was purchased on March 1, 2024, that pass would expire on March 31, 2025.

The Forest Service, the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and US Army Corp of Engineers honor the Annual Pass at sites where entrance or day use fees are charged. Since Chickasaw National Recreation Area does not have an entrance fee or day use fee, discounts for Annual Pass holders do not apply.

Annual Passes are non-transferable.

Senior Passes

Senior Passes are available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are age 62 or older. Proof of age, such as a driver's license or other valid identification card, will be required. There are two types of Senior Passes available, the Annual and the Lifetime.

Senior Lifetime Pass

  • A one-time fee of $80.00
  • Valid for a lifetime
  • Provides a 50% discount on camping and boating fees inside Chickasaw National Recreation Area. No additional discounts apply.

Senior Annual Pass

  • An annual renewal fee of $20. Pass expires the following year on the last day of the month it was purchased.
  • Annual Senior Passes may be exchanged for a Lifetime Senior Pass. For example, if a visitor has two Annual Senior Passes and wants to upgrade to a Lifetime Senior, the cost of the Annual Passes will be deducted from the total cost of the Lifetime Pass.
  • Provides a 50% discount on camping and boating fees inside Chickasaw National Recreation Area. No additional discounts apply.

Both passes are non-transferable.

Access Pass

  • Free
  • Available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have a permanent disability, regardless of percentage. Examples of accepted documentation can be found here.
  • Good for the lifetime of the pass holder.
  • Provides a 50% discount on camping and boating fees within Chickasaw National Recreation Area. No additional discounts apply.

NOTE: Golden Access Passports, the older versions of the Access Passes, are still valid for a lifetime. If you wish to upgrade, Golden Access Passports can be exchanged for Access Passes at no cost.

Both versions of these passes are non-transferable.

4th Grade Pass

  • Free
  • Available to U.S. 4th Graders (including home-schooled and free-choice learners 10 years of age). Educators can also be involved! Learn more at the Every Kid Outdoors website.
  • The pass is valid for the duration of the 4th grade school year through the following summer (September - August).
  • Must have a paper voucher printed from the Every Kid Outdoors website to obtain the Annual 4th Grade Pass. Digital versions of the voucher (such as smart phones or tablets) will not be accepted.
  • Covers entrance to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service sites that charge entrance fees and standard amenity fees at Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and US Army Corps of Engineers sites.
  • Admits the pass owner and any accompanying passengers in a private non-commercial vehicle at a per vehicle fee area, or the pass owner and up to 3 adults at sites that charge per person.

Military Passes

There are two types of Military Passes available, the Annual and the Lifetime. The Military Lifetime Pass can be issued to Gold Star families and U.S. military veterans. The Military Annual Pass can be issued to current U.S. military and dependents.

Military Annual
  • Free
  • Available to current US Military and Dependents. This includes current members of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, National Guard, Navy, and Space Force and Dependents of current U.S. military members.
  • U.S. Military Cadets
  • U.S. Active Reservists (Do not need to be deployed)
  • Documentation is required.
  • Covers entrance to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service sites, and covers Standard Amenity Fees at Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation sites, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sites.
  • Admits the pass owners and any accompanying passengers in a private non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas, or the pass owner and up to additional 3 adults (16 and over) at sites that charge per person.

What documentation is required to get a Military Annual Pass?

  • Unexpired Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Unexpired DD Form 1173
  • Unexpired Next Generation Dependent ID (Replacement of DD Form 1173)

The following individuals/groups DO NOT qualify for the Military Annual Pass:

• Foreign military members (Including those stationed in the US)
• National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) employees
• Public Health Service (PHS) members
• Inactive US Reservists
• Civilian military contractors
• Civilian military employees

Military Lifetime
  • Free
  • Available to Gold Star Families and Veterans.
  • Covers entrance fees at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service sites and covers Standard Amenity Fees at Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation sites, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sites.

How Do I Qualify for a Military Lifetime Pass?

Gold Star Families

  • Gold Star Families are next of kin of a member of the United States Armed Forces who lost their life in a “qualifying situation,” such as a war, an international terrorist attack, or a military operation outside of the United States while serving with the United States Armed Forces, as explained in Department of Defense Instruction 1348.36
  • Gold Star Family members must self-certify by applying for a Military Lifetime Pass online at https://store.usgs.gov/MilitaryPass or by downloading and printing a special voucher to either present to the ranger, exchange for a Military Pass in person, or place on the vehicle dashboard at unstaffed sites. Gold Star Vouchers may be downloaded from https://www.nps.gov/customcf/goldstar/voucher.htm

Veterans

  • Individuals who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves, and are able to present one of the following non-expired forms of identification when entering or using federal lands:

1) Department of Defense Identification Card (DD Form 2, DD Form 2765, or Next Generation USID replacement)

2) Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)

3) Veteran ID Card

  • As of September 2022, the VA only provides a digital version.

4) Veterans designation on a state-issued U.S.driver’s license or identification card


Unacceptable Documents

  • Expired Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Business cards

  • Email screenshots

  • Dependent application for VA benefits

  • Documents that are not issued by the US government. Examples include:
    Veterans Advantage card
    VFW membership card
    American Legion
    USAA documentation

Both passes are non-transferable.
