Fort Oglethorpe, GA: National Public Lands Day is the time to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. So, we hope you will come to Point Park, atop Lookout Mountain, where Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is waiving the entrance fee on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
Come enjoy the beautiful views of Chattanooga and its surrounding areas. During the day, ranger-guided programs, lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, are given at 11 am and 2 pm, beginning inside the Point Park entrance gate.
National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. This year’s activity is located at Chickamauga Battlefield and will focus on the walking path located at the historic Brotherton Cabin (Tour Stop 4) in Chickamauga Battlefield. Sign-up will start at 8:30 am in the lower parking lot of the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center. Come dressed for outdoor work and wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. For safety reasons and due to the nature of the work, clothing should include long-sleeved shirts, long pants, work gloves, and tennis shoes or work boots. Prepare for the sun with a cap, sunscreen, bug spray, and plenty of water to drink.
