Fort Oglethorpe, GA: The National Park Service is advising the beginning of repair work on a footbridge located on a .73 mile section of the Yellow Trail in the northeast corner of Chickamauga Battlefield.This trail section runs adjacent to Reed’s Bridge Road, intersecting at the Green and Blue Trails.In the spring of 2015, the park determined the footbridge needed repairs and due to increased safety concerns, this section of the Yellow Trail was closed.The park will be working with a crew of students from the Southeast Conservation Corps to rebuild the bridge. The repair project will begin on April 4, 2016, and is scheduled to continue through the month of April.During this time, the .73 mile section of the Yellow Trail will remain closed to all foot traffic for the safety of workers and visitors alike. |
