Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to participate in a special 90 minute program in Lookout Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

In conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Campaign, join a park ranger for a car caravan tour to discuss the struggle in Lookout Valley between Gettysburg veterans. Fresh off their victory at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania three months earlier, the Eleventh and Twelfth Corps of the Army of the Potomac headed west to assist the besieged Army of the Cumberland in Chattanooga. For most of these soldiers this was their first visit to the Chattanooga region. However new the area may have been to these eastern troops, when it came to their first battle in the west it was against an all too familiar opponent – Confederates from the Army of Northern Virginia. Come and learn how that recent campaign may have shaped these veterans' experience in Lookout Valley. This program will begin at the Chattanooga Arboretum and Nature Center located at 400 Garden Road.
