Superintendent F. Gus Sanchez announces that the Cultural Center at Chamizal National Memorial will be temporarily closed on Monday and Tuesday, May 13 and 14, 2019 for semi-annual floor and carpet cleaning.

The Memorial’s Cultural Center includes the Museum, Interpretive Exhibit Hall, Western National Parks Association Park Store, Visitor Center Information Desk, restrooms, and Theater.

During this temporary closure, visitor services will be available in the Administration Building, located next to the Cultural Center. This will include visitor information and our 4-minute orientation video in the Franklin G. Smith Gallery, and restrooms. During this time, the Park Store will be closed and we will be unable to issue or sell Federal Recreational Lands Passes (Annual, Senior, Access, Military, Fourth Grade). The Cultural Center is scheduled to reopen with all services available at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

Another ongoing maintenance project is the repaving of the Memorial’s roads and parking lots which will result in increased visitor safety and accessibility. During this project, only one of the two park entrances will be open at a time so if the main entrance gate on S. San Marcial Street is closed, please proceed south and turn left onto Delta Drive and park in the secondary lot. Please be watchful for workers and equipment and obey all traffic control signs and flaggers. We hope you’ll visit soon and experience some of the exciting changes happening here.
