Status of Park Operations
The National Park Service is working service-wide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, access to Chamizal National Memorial is as follows:
Places Where Masks Are Required
The NPS has updated its masking guidance based on the CDC’s COVID-19 Community Levels tool, which helps communities decide what prevention steps to take. In areas CDC identifies as high COVID-19 community level, masks are required for everyone in all NPS buildings, regardless of vaccination status.
While the listed areas are accessible for visitors to enjoy, a return to full operations will continue to be phased, and services may be limited. When recreating, please follow local area health orders and recreate responsibly by keeping social distance, wearing a face covering according to guidance, avoiding high risk activities, and staying home if you feel sick.
Entrance to the Cultural Center, mueseum exhibit space, and Franklin G. Smith Gallery may be restricted by distancing and capacity requirements based on COVID-19 guidance. Contact us for more information or if you plan to visit with a large group. A virtual version of our museum exhibit is also available.
Special Use Permits
Special park use permits will not be issued until further notice. This includes permits to use the theater or hold special events on the grounds. The visitor center and grounds are open for regular use. Please refer to the superintendent's compendium for details.
