Cedar Breaks National Monument is a special place for many people. Some families and friends may wish to scatter ashes of a deceased loved ones inside the park. For this a Special Use Permit (SUP) and application fee of $25.00 are required. Monuments & memorializations are not permitted.
Locations permitted for the spreading of ashes include:
North View Overlook, Sunset Overlook, and Point Supreme Overlook.
How to Apply for a Special Use Permit (SUP)
Step 1: Download the General Use Application Form
Step 2: Pay the $25 fee electronically through Zion National Parks pay.gov account.
Step 3: e-mail us the completed application form.
Step 4: If your request is approved, a permit containing applicable terms and conditions will be sent you. The permit must be signed by the responsible person and returned to the park for final approval by the Park Superintendent before the permitted activity begins.
Applications must be submitted at least three weeks in advance to receive consideration.
