From ancient lakebeds to volcanic activity, participants will learn how this dynamic landscape formed over millions of years and how it continues to evolve. Each walk is uniquely crafted by the ranger leading it, so topics and trail locations may vary.
Geology Ranger TalksSet against the backdrop of Point Supreme Overlook, these short ranger talks provide insight into the grand geologic forces that built Cedar Breaks. Learn how layers of sediment, periods of uplift, and relentless erosion created the colorful amphitheater we see today.
Geology Scavenger Hunt ChallengeThis self-guided activity allows for anybody to tunrn into a geologist as they explore the Monument with fresh eyes. Pick up a Geology Scavenger Hunt sheet at the Visitor Center and set off on a pursuit to spot unique rock features, colors, and textures throughout the Monument. Along the way, participants learn key geological concepts in a fun and accessible way. |
