In the summer, there are ranger-led interpretive programs for the entire family held at the Visitor Center and at the volcano rim. Rangers provide opportunities to learn about geology, volcanoes, history, and the natural environment. Check the online schedule of events or call (575) 278-2201 for program times and join us!

Junior Ranger Programs:

Capulin welcomes kids of all ages to participate in the Junior Ranger program! Junior Ranger booklets are designed for children above the age of six. To get started download a booklet from the Junior Ranger page, or pickup a Junior Ranger booklet from the from desk at the Visitor Center. Upon completion, the Junior Ranger receives a badge. If you're planning on hiking the one-mile rim trail, do the Junior Ranger health activity and earn a patch.

Capulin offers the Lady Bug Hunt, a non-collecting scavenger hunt of park features, for smaller children. Upon completion, the children receive a lady bug badge and a certificate.

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts:

Capulin is working very hard to create opportunities for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to earn merit badges and patches. Click the links below to connect to our Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the USA pages.
