Upgrades to Cabin Camps at Catoctin Mountain Park

Thurmont, Md, - Catoctin Mountain Park is excited to announce that all of the park’s campgrounds and cabin camps are now open for the 2024 season with significant upgrades in place. At Owens Creek campground, the tent pads have been expanded and rebuilt. In Camp Round Meadow, the sleeping dorms feature renovated restrooms, and the gym has a brand-new HVAC system. The biggest improvements have been made to Camp Misty Mount and Camp Greentop. These historic cabin camps were constructed when the park was established in the 1930s, and recent investments ensure they will provide unique overnight opportunities for generations to come. The improvements include the installation of new swimming pools in both camps, the renovation of the central pool/bath house at Misty Mount, the rehabilitation of the Dining Hall and Recreation Hall at Greentop, and the installation of new electrical systems throughout both camps to include additional outlets and overhead ceiling fans in the guest cabins. Guests at Camp Misty Mount will also enjoy new cots and mattresses. Taken together, the improvements will greatly enhance the visitor experience while maintaining the camps’ historic character and feel.

Camp Misty Mount allows individuals, families and small groups to reserve single cabins or groups of cabins. Camp Greentop is rented as a single facility for large groups of up to 150 guests staying in 16-19 different cabins. Camp Round Meadow is also suitable for large groups of up to 120 staying in four large sleeping dorms. Owens Creek campground provides traditional tent camping opportunities, with a few sites suitable for small trailers. Check the park’s website for additional information or to make a reservation.
