Thurmont, Md. – Catoctin Mountain Park will begin repaving work on Park Central Road on Monday, March 30. The work will include closures of sections of Park Central Road between the Visitor Center and the Hog Rock parking lot. The closures will be in place Monday through Friday. On weekends, the road will be fully open. Work is expected to continue for 4-6 weeks.
During this time, visitors may have to use alternate routes to access certain parking lots and trailheads. The Visitor Center will remain open throughout the project. Information on the timing and limits of the closures will be posted and updated on the park’s website at www.nps.gov/cato.
This is the final phase of work to repair and resurface both Park Central Road and Foxville Deerfield Road, the primary roadways in the park. The work began in the fall to address serious deficiencies in both roadways.
