Internships for Class Credit and Volunteer Internships


We are happy to host you for your school-required internship, or for your volunteer experience catered around professional development and learning. These programs can range from 100-800 hours, and from 10 weeks to up to one year. Our education staff will work around your class requirements / your desired education goals. National Council for Preservation Education


The National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE), in cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS) and other partnering agencies, offers internships throughout the year. NCPE has partnered with the NPS since 1992 to connect higher education students and recent graduates in historic preservation, cultural resource management, and related fields to projects at hundreds of sites and divisions within the NPS system and other agencies annually. Completing an application is the first step in securing an internship at Cane River Creole National Historical Park. The exact starting dates will be determined on a case-by-case basis with the supervisor.To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in an academic program or recently graduated. Interns are not eligible to work more than 1200 hours total in this program; including previous internships within the program.

Greening Youth Foundation

HBCUI Internship Program offers paid internships for HBCU (Historically Black Colleges & Universities) students around the country. The internships are through the National Park Service and U.S. Department of the Interior. HBCUI is a federally funded program that provides an opportunity for HBCU students to explore career options.

The internships are paid, 10-week programs that provide students a hands-on work experience at here in park. Positions may include museum work, historical research, park guides, educators, and much more.

Community Volunteer Ambassador

Stewards Individual Placements provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve natural resources. Stewards, in partnership with the National Park Service, seeks interns to serve as Community Volunteer Ambassadors (CVA).

Internships are paid, 50 week programs for ages 18-30 (35 years if you are a veteran). The CVA will work to enhance park volunteerism, partnerships, community outreach, local youth involvement, and more!
