You can't get too much winter in the winter. Robert Frost The Capitol Reef National Park Visitor Center operating hours will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily starting Sunday November 4, 2012. All ranger programs are done for the season. The visitor center will be closed on winter federal holidays including: November 12, 2012, November 22, 2012, December 25, 2012, January 1, 2013, January 21, 2013 and February 18, 2013. The historic Gifford House, located 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the Visitor Center on Scenic Drive, will close for the season on October 27, 2012 and reopen in March 2013. Typically the visitor center hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in the winter, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in spring and autumn and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in the summer. Winter is a wonderful time to enjoy solitude on the hiking trails, watch the park movie and visit the Capitol Reef Natural History Association bookstore.
