The Capitol Reef National Park visitor center will be changing to winter hours of operation starting Sunday October 23, 2011. The visitor center will be open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily except for Thanksgiving November 24, Christmas December 25, and New Year's Day January 1, Dr. Martin Luther King JR. Day celebrated January 16 and Presidents Day February 20. Interpretive programs will end on October 22, 2011 and resume again in the spring. The Capitol Reef Natural History Association book store is open year-round. The park movie, interpretive exhibits, information and friendly rangers to assist you are available at the visitor center year-round as well. Ripple Rock Nature Center will be open for the Utah Educators Association conference weekend, Thursday through Sunday October 20 to 23, 2011 from Noon to 5:00 pm. The historic Gifford House will remain open through October 29, 2011 and offers fresh baked pies and breads and information on the pioneer history of the area.
