Capitol Reef National Park will join national parks throughout the country in celebrating National Park Week, from April 17 through April 25, 2010. National Park Week provides a wonderful opportunity for all Americans to visit their national parks. During this period, entrance fees to all national parks including Capitol Reef National Park are waived. Geology talks at the visitor center and ranger guided hikes are also scheduled during this week. The Ripple Rock Nature Center, located south of the visitor center on the Scenic Drive, will be open April 17, 18 and 25 from 10am to 4pm.

This year’s National Junior Ranger Day is Saturday, April 24. Youth activities at Capitol Reef National Park will promote outdoor recreation, and enable children to complete the Junior Ranger Booklet and earn a park badge and embroidered patch. Activities will be held at different locations throughout the Fruita Historic District from 8am to 4pm. Junior Ranger Booklets and activity schedules are available at the visitor center. Children may participate in one or all of the day’s activities, which are free of charge and open to the public.

More information on scheduled activities may be obtained by calling the Capitol Reef visitor center at 435/425-3791 extension 111.
