The Capitol Reef National Park visitor center operating hours will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily starting Monday, October 23, 2017. Extended hours will resume in summer 2018. The visitor center will be closed on major holidays including:
Free interpretive programs including a geology talk at the visitor center at 10:00 am and evening programs at the campground may be offered as staffing allows. Check the visitor center for times. The historic Gifford House, located 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the visitor center on Scenic Drive, will be open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm starting Monday, October 23 through Sunday, October 29, 2017. Fresh baked pies, breads and pastries are available for purchase, including pumpkin! The house will be closed for the season starting Monday, October 30. Autumn and winter are wonderful times to enjoy the exhibits, park movie and the Capitol Reef Natural History Association bookstore.
