Capitol Reef National Park Celebrates its 80th Anniversary

Capitol Reef is celebrating 80 years of conservation. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt proclaimed Capitol Reef National Monument on August 2, 1937. President Richard Nixon signed legislation to create Capitol Reef National Park on December 18, 1971.
 
The park and Capitol Reef Natural History Association are teaming up to celebrate this noteworthy milestone on August 2, 2017. Scheduled activities include:
 
 
Birthday Celebration  9:00 am
Join us for a brief ranger-led history talk and complimentary cupcakes. Located outside the visitor center.
 
Music by David Boye 8:45 pm
This musical evening program features David Boye on instrumental acoustic guitar. This composer and musician will be sharing his experiences and performing pieces from the Artist-in-Residence compositions that he has created in parks and monuments throughout the country. Located at the campground amphitheater.
