Environmental Education Field Trips 2024-2025

Bring your class to the seashore!

Find unique opportunities for your students to experience Canaveral National Seashore’s natural history. The seashore warmly welcomes schools for an immersive hands-on experience. To arrange a visit, please access the field trip reservation request form below.

Fourth grade students are eligible for the Every Kid Outdoors Pass.

In-person programs are available from October through April each school year.

Turtle Mound & Lagoon Program (4th & 5th graders)

  • Location: Apollo Beach, 7611 S. Atlantic Ave New Smyrna Beach FL, 32169.
  • Maximum group size: 58 students
  • Teachers & Chaperones: 1 adult per 10 students (not to exceed 64 total)
  • Description: Students explore the vast Turtle Mound while learning about the Timucua nation that once called this place home. Hike to the top of Turtle Mound for a bird's eye view. -AND- For the Lagoon program students learn about the Indian River Lagoon watershed and their own connections to the Central Florida ecosystem. Dolphin, manatee, wading birds, turtles, and fish are just a few of the residents commonly encountered.

Privacy Act Statement

Authority: Public Law 114-289 National Park Service Centennial Act and 54 U.S.C. 100701 Protection, interpretation, and research in System.

Purpose: To administer education programs for education audiences including but not limited to school groups, scouting groups, extracurricular groups, and home school groups.

Routine Uses: To effectively manage requests for education received by the NPS, the Education Reservation Request Form is used to collect basic education reservation information to facilitate operational aspects of scheduling groups for park education programs, including in-park education programs, ranger in classroom programs, and/or online distance learning programs.

Disclosure: Voluntary, however, failure to provide the requested information may impede the ability to grant your education reservation request.
