Winter Film Series Underway at Cape Cod National Seashore

Films will show on six consecutive Sundays starting January 24th at 1:30 PM on the theatre-size screen at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. The movies are free, thanks to generous funding from Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

January 24 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Silent Film)

This silent sci-fi classic is based on the Jules Verne novel that recounts the tale of the notorious, power-mad Captain Nemo. The film's astonishing underwater photography was far ahead of its time. (1916)

January 31 Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles

This ageless classic is about a mysterious death and rumors of a demonic hound roaming the fog-shrouded moors. Holmes and Watson are called in to get to the heart of the mystery. (1959)

February 7 The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc

This historical drama captures the life, moral convictions, and death of the young French girl who came to be known as Joan of Arc. Rated R. (1999)

February 14 Snow White and the Huntsman

This updated take on the Snow White tale finds the maiden battling the evil queen with skills learned from the huntsman sent to kill her. Rated PG-13. (2012)

February 21 Chaplin: The Movie This film explores comic icon Charlie Chaplin's poignant journey through triumph, failure, infamy, and government persecution. Rated PG-13. (1992)

February 28 Ben-Hur (Silent Film)

This collectors' edition's lavish sets, orchestral score, and spectacular chariot race helped made it the third highest grossing silent film of all time. (1925)
