News Release Date: April 29, 2008 Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent George E. Price, Jr. reminds hunters that turkey hunting is currently prohibited on all lands, regardless of ownership, within the boundaries of Cape Cod National Seashore (CCNS). Outside the boundary, on lands where turkey hunting is permitted on Cape Cod, the season runs from April 28 through May 10. In September, 2003, the U.S. District Court ordered a review of the national seashore’s hunting program. As a result of this review, a final decision was released in October, 2007. The decision will serve as a guide for future management of hunting within CCNS. One aspect of the decision is to permit a spring turkey season within the national seashore. However, in order to permit this, a special regulation must be created. The regulation is currently working its way through the legal review and approval process. Until the regulation is in place, turkey hunting within the seashore boundary is prohibited. ### |
