Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent George Price will host a "State of the Seashore" program on Wednesday, November 4 at 6:30 PM at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. The program is free, accessible, and open to the public. During the one-hour program, Superintendent Price will highlight many of the projects that were accomplished in 2015, including a successful partnership with Cape Cod Healthcare on the Healthy Parks, Healthy People program;the upgrading of many trails;development of a parkwide sign plan;significant rehabilitation work at the Captain Edward Penniman House through a successful funding collaboration with Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore and Eastern National;the first phase of repairs to Highland Light;ongoing development of a bicycle and pedestrian master plan;a successful science symposium;an innovative approach to turf management at Highland Links;and development of a shorebird management plan. Superintendent Price will also look ahead to 2016, and provide plans and updates related to the upcoming National Park Service centennial in 2016;the Every Kid in a Park campaign;upgrades to park amphitheaters;continued work on Highland Light;budget projections;construction;and funding needs related to historic buildings and trails that are in disrepair.
