Contact: Karst Hoogeboom, Chief of Facilities and Maintenance, 508-957-0740 Superintendent George Price announces that portions of the Province Lands Bicycle Trail will be closed from December 1, 2014 to mid-March 2015 for reconstruction of the two bicycle bridges at Province Lands Road between Race Point Road and the entrance to Herring Cove Beach. The replacement of the two existing bicycle trail bridges with concrete box culverts will increase the overhead clearance for bicyclists passing under Province Lands Road. This closure is part of a larger project that also includes resurfacing 2.4 miles of Province Lands Road and realigning the entrance road to Herring Cove Beach parking lot. Signs will be posted identifying temporary closures or detours on Province Lands Bicycle Trail and a current bicycle trail map will be posted to the Cape Cod National Seashore website, www.nps.gov/caco. Federal Highway funding is being used to repair this roadway, and to improve bicyclist safety through the replacement of the two bridges. ### |
