Superintendent George Price announces that the reconstruction of two beach parking lots will begin later this fall.A construction contract has been awarded to Call and Associates.The project includes removal of existing pavement at the two beaches and replacement with new pavement, curb stops and striping.As part of the reconstruction, minor traffic reconfigurations will enhance public safety and improve beach operations. Work is scheduled to start at the 530 space Marconi Beach parking lot on October 22nd with removal of existing pavement.The contractor will sequence work to allow for the greatest continued public access to the beach as possible.There will be periodic temporary closures of the entire lot as work progresses.Work is scheduled to be completed by December 23, 2015. Reconstruction of the 360 space Race Point Beach parking lot will begin in March 2016 and is scheduled to be completed by May 22, 2016. The total project cost is approximately $2.1 million.Federal Highway Administration funding is being used to reconstruct the parking lots and improve circulation. |
