Superintendent George Price announced that the pavement repair work for Herring Cove Beach has been completed and the beach and North parking lot are completely open. The parking lot and revetment suffered extensive damage due to wave action on the aging infrastructure this past winter. The Seashore received emergency funding from the National Park Service's Northeast Regional Office in Philadelphia, and was able to engage Classic Site Solutions as the prime contractor to perform the repairs. The work also included removal of most of the broken-up pieces of the revetment from the beach.Price said, "I am impressed with the quality of the repair and the look in front of the Herring Cove bath house with a sandy beach! It is wonderful to begin the summer season with safe, open beaches and no construction interfering with our visitors."

Additional plans for Herring Cove Beach include a new bath house facility next season.Future plans for the North parking lot and the revetment will be reviewed during a planning process to be undertaken by a subcommittee of the Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission. The subcommittee will hold a number of workshops where future possibilities will be discussed, and an alternative will be developed for consideration by the National Park Service.
