WELLFLEET, Mass. – Cape Cod National Seashore welcomes the Cape Symphony back to the shores of Salt Pond in Eastham for an outdoor concert at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26. This is the fifth “Symphony at the Seashore” performance, an enduring legacy of the 2016 National Park Service Centennial. Admission is free and tickets are not required.

The event features the Cape Symphony’s principal musicians and guest artists. The program includes popular classics, a Disney medley, a multimedia tribute to the national parks and Cape Cod National Seashore and stirring patriotic numbers honoring our armed forces and veterans. Special guest Dawn Derow will join the symphony. Ms. Derow grew up in Eastham and has performed in New York City and around the world in operas, musicals, and as an award-winning cabaret singer.

“We are thrilled to have Jung-Ho Pak and the Cape Symphony back,” said Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent Brian Carlstrom. “These concerts have become a beloved tradition, an evening of joyful music and a celebration of the beauty, nature, and inspiration exemplified by our national parks.”

This free concert is made possible by major financial support from Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore (FCCNS), celebrating 35 years of philanthropic support to the seashore. Since 1987, FCCNS has improved the seashore and provided for public enjoyment and resource protection through volunteerism, and financial support for historic building preservation, trail rehabilitation, shorebird protection, education programs, and events. Funding for this event is also provided by the Music Performance Trust Fund.

IF YOU GO: Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at 50 Nauset Road at the intersection of Route 6 in Eastham. Free shuttle service will be provided to and from the event from the Little Creek Parking Area on Doane Road. Outdoor bench and lawn seating are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is free and the amphitheater is wheelchair accessible. Picnicking is welcome. There is no food for sale; a bottle filling station is available for water. Pre-concert family games will be offered from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring bug spray and flashlights for ease in returning to vehicles. Pets are not permitted. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held on Saturday, August 27, and announcements will be made via social media on Friday morning.
