Families are invited to visit the Captain Edward Penniman House from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, May 28 to participate in games, activities, and stories that will bring to life this well-traveled whaling family, whose 19th-century home is now preserved within Cape Cod National Seashore. All activities are free.

Costumed interpreters will share stories of the family's adventures, such as the time Mrs. Penniman saved the ship while it was in the throes of a wild hurricane, and the time the captain brought a polar bear on board.Visitors can try their hand at scrimshaw and learn why it was a major pastime of whalemen at sea.During informal tours interpreters will point out the interesting features and architecture of this ornate home, while out on the lawn children can enjoy rolling hoops or playing croquet, a game the Penniman Family was fond of playing.

The Penniman House is located in the Fort Hill area of Eastham, off Route 6 and Governor Prence Road. Parking is limited, and carpooling is encouraged.
