Join musician Paul Kaplan for a one-hour program of environmental music at 7 PM, on August 12, at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. In “Songs for the Earth” Paul Kaplan presents engaging songs on a wide variety of environmental topics. All of the songs, whether serious or funny, help the listener to better understand both the fragility and the resilience of life on Earth. Audiences don’t just listen, but actively participate in helping Paul fill the room with glorious sound, making for an unforgettable experience.
Paul Kaplan has long been associated with environmental music. His original song "I Had an Old Coat" has become a classic recycling song sung far and wide. His “Call Me the Whale” has been recorded by musicians in five countries. For many years he was a member of the Hudson River Sloopsingers with Pete Seeger, who said "I am a big fan of Paul Kaplan. I love his singing. I love his songs."
This program is part of the annual “Tuesday Evening Series” at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. Held weekly at 7 PM in July and August in the air-cooled comfort of the visitor center auditorium, programs focus on the diverse natural and cultural resources on the Outer Cape and are suitable for all ages. Programs are free of charge and accessible. The series is sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
