Looking for an evening of family fun complete with song, dance, and audience participation?Join minstrel storyteller Mary Jo Maichack for a free, one hour program of folklore and songs of the sea titled "Or Would You Rather Be a Fish?" at 7 PM on Tuesday, July 31 at Salt Pond Visitor Center. Ms. Maichack has performed 3,000 shows in libraries, schools, and at festivals since 1989 and has won two national awards for her storytelling CDs. She sings, plays guitar and tells stories in a dynamic style and offers shows, workshops, and residencies in the art of storytelling for all ages. She has appeared on PBS, has been featured several times at the Connecticut Storytelling Festival, Three Apples, and Mark Twain Festivals and has performed from San Francisco to Venice, Italy.Her program "Or Would You Rather Be a Fish?" is fun for all ages and includes chanteys, stories, puppets, and a hornpipe dance. This program is part of the annual "Tuesday Evening Series" at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. Held weekly at 7 PM in July and August in the air-cooled comfort of the visitor center auditorium, programs focus on the diverse natural and cultural resources on the Outer Cape and are suitable for all ages. Programs are free of charge and accessible. The series is sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
