Contact: George E. Price, Jr., Superintendent, 508-771-2144 Superintendent George Price announced the national seashore will host an informational meeting for Doane Road neighbors, Eastham, MA, who will be affected by increased bike and pedestrian traffic resulting from the closure of the bicycle/pedestrian bridge behind Coast Guard Beach. The bridge was destroyed by winter storms. The biggest impact will be seen from the Doane Rock area to Ocean View Drive. The loss of the bike bridge will result in additional bike riders and pedestrians walking to and from Coast Guard Beach along a very narrow section of Doane Road. National Park Service staff are working to restore the bridge as soon as possible, but alternate plans for public safety have to be in place until the construction is complete. The purpose of this meeting is to review detour plans and potential local traffic impacts during operating hours. The meeting will be held at the Salt Pond Visitor Center classroom, Thursday, May 27, at 4:30 PM.
