The National Park Service seeks to fill multiple surf-lifeguard jobs for six ocean beaches at Cape Cod National Seashore for the 2020 summer season. The application period for these federal jobs is now open on usajobs.gov. There are rolling deadlines, with the first being February 7, 2020.A summer lifeguard job at Cape Cod National Seashore provides a great opportunity for new or experienced certified lifeguards to maintain fitness, develop new skills, and gain exposure to National Park Service career opportunities, while providing invaluable service to the beach-going public. Daily workouts are required, giving committed individuals the ability to improve their summer strength and conditioning. National seashore lifeguards have the chance to network with other swimmers and athletes, learn to live responsibly on their own, and begin to explore possible post-education careers in public safety and other specializations with the National Park Service.
In order to qualify for a position, applicants must possess a current nationally recognized lifeguard certification and will be required to pass a surf-swim test at the beginning of the season.
Hourly pay for entry level positions is $14.36 per hour, with extra pay for Sunday work. These jobs are 40 hours per week. Pay for all lifeguard pay grades ranges from $14.36 to $20.11, depending on qualifying experience and/or education. Please contact Ryan Wright at (508) 255-2112, ext. 0403 or at ryan_wright@nps.gov before applying to discuss the federal application process and for assistance in completing the online application.
