Cape Cod National Seashore to Host Two Bike Safety Events

Helmet fittings, safe riding tips, and fun activities will be offered at the national seashore's annual bike safety events on July 29 in Provincetown and August 5 in Eastham.

In an effort to reduce the occurrence and severity of bike accidents at Cape Cod National Seashore, as well as promote the Healthy Parks, Healthy People program, the national seashore's Bicycle Safety Committee will host two "Bicycle Safety at the Seashore" events.This is the sixth year that the park has hosted this program. One event will be on Friday, July 29 from 9 to 11 AM at Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown. The second event will be on Friday, August 5 from 9 to 11 AM at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. These free public events feature helmet fittings, fun activities for kids, bicycle safety checks, and educational displays.Prizes for participation, such as helmets, bike accessories, and coupons may be available while supplies last.Educational topics will include how to fit a helmet properly, preparing for a ride with an ABC bicycle quick check, the consequences of a bicycle crash, as well as other aspects of safe riding. Join us for this fun-filled event and for your chance to walk away with information that will keep you and your family safe and healthy.

The Cape Cod National Seashore's Bicycle Safety Committee hosts these events to provide awareness about safe bicycling in the park and to promote fitness and enjoyment of the national seashore's resources. Participation and support are provided by PTown Bikes, Idle Times Bike Shop, Ben and Jerry's, Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore, and surrounding towns.

IF YOU GO: Province Lands Visitor Center is located at 171 Race Point Road, Provincetown. Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at 50 Nauset Road at the intersection of Route 6, Eastham.
