Provincetown, MA – A new accessible walkway will be installed at Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown. Work will begin the week of November 12, 2019. This project will remove the existing ramp and install a new concrete walkway with landings and railings from the parking lot curb cut to the visitor center.
Superintendent Carlstrom announced that "The new accessible ramp is just one of many deferred maintenance projects the park is undertaking. This is a design/build project resulting in the accessibility of the visitor center to all of its 250,000-plus annual visitors."
While the ramp is closed for construction, access to the visitor center's two outdoor observation decks will be available, weather permitting, via the existing stairway. The decks offer expansive views of the Atlantic and dunes, with opportunities to also see whales and seabirds. The visitor center closed for the season on October 31, 2019.
Henry General Construction of Springfield, MA has been awarded the contract and work will be completed prior to the re-opening of the visitor center in May 2020.
