Superintendent's State of the Seashore Presentation Slated for October 21

WELLFLEET, Mass—Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent Brian Carlstrom will host a “State of the Seashore” program on Monday, October 21 from 6 to 8 pm at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at 50 Nauset Road at the intersection of Route 6. The program is free, accessible, and open to the public.

During the program, Superintendent Carlstrom will highlight many of the projects that were accomplished in 2019, including the ongoing rehabilitation of historic buildings; research; the realignment of Province Lands Road and new Herring Cove North parking lot; and the rehabilitation of the Head of the Meadow Bike Trail and new extension.

Superintendent Carlstrom will also look ahead to 2020, and provide plans and updates on the significant construction project at Nauset Light Beach; the Herring River Restoration Project; continued collaboration with the White Shark Working Group to help reduce public risk related to white sharks; rehabilitation of the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail boardwalk; erosion response; and budget projections.

In addition to updates and a look ahead by Superintendent Carlstrom, the event will include a brief signing ceremony with Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore for a new, 10-year philanthropic agreement, and presentation of a check for $75,000 from Friends to the national seashore for rehabilitation of the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
