“State of the Seashore” Presentation Scheduled for October 25

WELLFLEET, Mass—Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent Brian Carlstrom will host a “State of the Seashore” program on Thursday, October 25 at 6:30 pm at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at 50 Nauset Road at the intersection of Route 6. The program is free, accessible, and open to the public.

During the one-hour program, Superintendent Carlstrom will highlight many of the projects that were accomplished in 2018, including the ongoing rehabilitation of historic buildings; research; the new park movie and revitalization of Province Lands Visitor Center; the new path at Nauset Light Beach and the upgrading of many trails, including the Red Maple Swamp Trail through a successful funding collaboration with Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore. 

Superintendent Carlstrom will also look ahead to 2019, and provide plans and updates on significant construction projects at Herring Cove parking lot, Highland Light, the Penniman Barn, and the Nauset Coast Guard Station; continued collaboration with the White Shark Working Group to help reduce public risk related to white sharks; rehabilitation of the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail; erosion response; research; and budget projections. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
