FIRES IN THE PARK
Canyon de Chelly National Monument works closely with the fire crews from Mesa Verde National Park for crew training and prescribed burns. Perodically the fire crew will conduct control burns of brush piles throughout the park and keep watch for wildland fires. The park also works closely with the Bureau of Indian Affairs Fire Management and the Navajo Nation for fire restrictions and other fire information.
The park works with local partners, the Chinle Fire Department, for structural fires within the park. In case of fire or any emergencies, please call 911.
The fire management plan for the park is in the process of being updated and will be shared as soon as it's finalized. Please contact the Park Superintendent for more information at 928-674-5500.
