Several Navajo Nation agencies provide support with managing resources in the park - Chinle Chapter Government, Navajo Parks & Recreation Department, Navajo Tourism Department, Navajo Nation Film Office, Navajo Historic Preservation Office, Navajo Fish & Wildlife, Navajo Police Department, and Office of Dine' Youth. The Thunderbird Lodge in the park is under management of the Navajo Hospitality Enterprise and offers a motel, gift shop, cafeteria and canyon tours. During the summer, traditional Native American dance groups perform on site. Thunderbird Lodge is open all year and is conveniently located near the Cottonwood Campground. The Student Conservation Association provides summer employment for high school and college students in many National Parks. The Student Conservation Association is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Our program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces and more across the country. Work in your national park this summer. The park store is operated by Western National Parks Association (WNPA), an official non-profit partner of the National Park Service dedicated to supporting the educational mission of Canyon de Chelly NM. The park store has a wide range of books, maps, educational games, and other items available for retail sale. These products complement the interpretive themes you experience when visiting the park.
