Contact: Julie Newland, 435.834.4733 PROPANE BOTTLE RECYCLER FOR BRYCE CANYON Bryce Canyon National Park has awarded contract P1330110054 to Wayne Wilson, dba WWW Industries, a small business in Billings Montana, for the purchase of a Mobile Propane Bottle Recycler (PBR). The "PBR" will be the fourth of its kind in the National Park system. Others are located at Yellowstone NP, Yosemite NP, and Grand Teton NP. The recycler is a “closed loop” system and no propane gas is released into the environment. In fact, the propane is used to power the machine. The resulting empty bottles are crushed and recycled as scrap metal. The apparatus is efficient to use and able to recycle hundreds of bottles per day. Bryce Canyon NP will work with local land management partners to maximize the use of the recycler to reduce hazardous waste and waste hauling fees. Since this unit is mobile, Bryce Canyon can also promote its use by sharing the equipment with other parks in the area, such as Zion NP, Capital Reef NP, Southern Utah Group Parks, Glen Canyon NRA and making it a resource for local communities while promoting innovative leadership in recycling in these rural areas. Expected delivery date is May, 2011. For further information, please contact: Julie Newland, Contract Specialist, 435-834-4733. |
